that promotes cycling for transport, health, fun, leisure and the environment.

There’s a cycling solution for every kind of disability. Sometimes that solution is obvious, sometimes we need to listen well and think hard.  It’s important to get it right, because cycling can bring so much: including independence, mobility, exercise, inclusion, cost-savings, co-ordination skills, a sense of achievement and enormous fun. That’s quite some list – and you could probably add to it!

It’s a vast subject, full of pitfalls.  The end result may be a lot of fun and new mobility, but getting there is another matter.
This website is part of a whole new support and advice service, which also includes our 32-page guide (click on the link to the right), our permanent try-out centre in York with hundreds of bikes, and our disability bike try-out roadshows and regional festivals.

We’ll be telling you on this website about upcoming roadshows, festivals and assessment visits in your area. Also, if you want us to send you a newsletter from time to time, just email admin@getcycling.org.uk.

Happy Cycling!

The Bikes not Barriers Team

“What a wonderful day! Our pupils present with emotional and behavioural difficulties and the skill and expertise of your staff enabled them to understand the rudiments of riding bikes, to have fun, to take turns and to share. Your team were professional at all times. They were in fact a pleasure to have in school.”
Elizabeth Davis, Deputy Headteacher, New Woodland School, Lewisham.
